Dungeon Upgrades (also known as the Castle and the Tree Upgrades) improve your dungeon in various aspects. You can only upgrade one castle or tree skill at a time unless you have the Builder Subscription
It would be wise to upgrade Merchant as possible first before moving on to the others as the combined cost for it will be 2.5mil coins but it will save 19mil coins combined from the other upgrades.

Merchant[]
Upgrade your merchant skill to get better discounts on castle upgrades (including itself).
The merchant upgrade does not affect Trap or Tree upgrades.
Unlocking this upgrade requires a level 4 or higher Skull Gold Bonus.
Revitalizing Heartbeat[]
When upgraded, Revitalizing Heartbeat gives a thief a chance to regain health after a failed attempt to complete a dungeon.
The introduction of this in update 2.10 skill caused major controversies due to problems with max level gameplay. Previously, level 26 and above traps would force a Foreseer level 5 to 1 star after 7 deaths. With the introduction of this skill, even level 30 traps could not bring a Foreseer level 5 to 1 star after 7 deaths with one Revitalizing Heartbeat activation, and players could then use a Disable Trap potion to reach the chest with 1 trap active and 2 stars. This issue has been partially solved with the introduction of higher level traps in update 2.12.
Revitalizing Heartbeat can be upgraded from the skill tree. It costs Tears to upgrade.
- Revitalizing Heartbeat can be boosted to +30% chance for 1 Day for 1500 tears after hitting Level 42.
Master Lock Picker[]
When upgraded, Master Lock Picker gives a thief a chance to keep lock picks after hitting the wrong keyhole.
- Master Lock Picker can be boosted to +30% chance for 1 Day for 1500 tears after hitting level 42.
Strong Teeth[]
When upgraded, Strong Teeth gives a thief a chance to keep a totem tooth after a ritual.
- Strong Teeth can be boosted to +30% chance for 2 Days for 2500 tears after hitting level 42.
Ritual Berserker[]
When upgraded, Ritual Berserker decreases ritual duration during a ritual after the player makes successful multiplayer attacks.

9 | 540s | 3000 | 48h |
10 | 600s | 4500 | 48h |
- Ritual Berserker can be boosted to 700 seconds per attack for 1 Day for 3000 tears.
Trivia[]
- Most players agree that the best order for maxing upgrades is: Merchant - Lock Pick Capacity - Lock Pick Speed - Skull Gold Bonus - Gold Mine Capacity - Gold Mine Speed - Lock.
- While Merchant is important to max first, getting Lock Pick Capacity level 5 early is important for getting 3 lock picks per advertisement to save lots of time during attacks.
- If you are good at saving bases, it might be better to max out Skull Gold Bonus first.
- If you are a very active player, the Gold Mine may be beneficial to upgrade since it provides the player with 144k Gold every day at max level.
- The Lock is recommended by many high level players to leave at low levels. This is for many reasons. The main reason maybe because they have hard bases, and leaving low levels will make raiders easier to get in, and leave them skulls.
- A lower level lock means that the majority of players will break into your dungeon. Since a large portion of the player base is less experienced with the game, you are more likely to be attacked by a weaker player who will leave more skulls and steal less of your treasure. In contrast, higher level players often have more keys, so if you have a high level Lock they will be the players who will be breaking into your dungeon. Note that if you have good gems in your totem, you will be raided very soon, so you would rather have it be a weaker player than a more experienced one.
- Farmers are players who intentionally break into Wooden doors to farm the orbs and potions that they drop. Often, they are not serious about stealing your gems and Gold, so they will often not use potions/skill when raiding your base.
- With less keys required to break into your dungeon, you will be raided more often. If you are a low levelled player, this means more skulls and more Gold to focus on other upgrades.
- The Lock takes a lot of time and Gold to upgrade. This time and Gold is better spent elsewhere, at least until you have maxed out your castle.
- Revitalizing Heartbeat is widely considered the best ability to upgrade out of the 4 tear tree skills.
- It will not trigger if the player suicides (restarts without hitting a trap) or once an attacker is at 0 health.
